Titanium has a silvery-white metallic luster. At a density of 4.51g · cm ^ -3, it is the heaviest light metal.Melt point (1668 ± 10) ℃, boiling point 3260℃.The melting point is higher than the iron and nickel. The thermal conductivity at 25C is 14.99W · (m · ℃) ^ -1, with only 1 / 6 of iron and 1 / 16 of aluminum, which is bad for cutting and welding. The expansion coefficient at 25C is 8.3610 ^ -6℃^ -1, which is smaller than iron and nickel; it can compensate for the thermal stress caused by low thermal conductivity during heating and cooling, which is beneficial for material processing and heat treatment. The molar heat capacity is 250.344kJ/ (mol · ℃) ^ -1. The linear elastic modulus is 115GPa, the shear elastic modulus is 44GPa, and a Poisson ratio of 0.33. The elastic modulus is only slightly higher than half of iron and nickel, adversely affecting the stiffness of the structure. The resistivity of high pure titanium is 54010 ^ -9 Ω·m, but the resistivity of industrial pure titanium is 65010 ^ -9 Ω·m, and the thermal conductivity is correspondingly lower.

Pure titanium has extremely high corrosion resistance in most media, especially in media such as neutral, oxidation and seawater. The corrosion resistance in seawater is higher than aluminum alloy, stainless steel and nickel-based alloys, but it remains unchanged in the industrial, agricultural environment and marine atmosphere.

Hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, positive phosphoric acid, and some hot organic acids have a strong corrosion effect on titanium; especially hydrochloric acid.Regardless of the concentration or temperature, there is a strong corrosion effect. Therefore, hydrofluoric acid is a commonly used corrosive agent when preparing titanium and titanium alloy gold-phase test samples, and it is also the main component of acid lotion.

Titanium is extremely stable to various concentrations of nitric acids and chromic acids, and it is also very corrosion-resistant in alkali solutions and most organic acids and compounds.
